An Affirming Church
An Affirming church is an official designation in the United Church of Canada, publicly declaring a commitment to inclusion and justice for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, race, ethnicity, ability, age, religion, and economic status.
At Trinity United, we are committed to being an inclusive and supportive community of faith because God calls us to be a welcoming community and to love one another. We are currently working towards an official designation.

- Are active participants in the annual Pride Festival in Elmira (our minister, Rev. Sue was on the founding committee for the Pride Festival)
- Host shared Pride worship services with Gale Presbyterian Church (also an affirming church)
- Invite speakers from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
- Support educational workshops
- Have an equal marriage policy
- Integrate an inclusive mindset into things already happening at church, as well as being open to new opportunities/ideas for fostering inclusion
